To ensure the quality, appearance, and longevity of aluminum-plastic composite panels (ACP) during processing, transportation, and installation, it is important to follow proper handling procedures. Below are key precautions to keep in mind:

1. Storage

  • Store aluminum-plastic panels in a dry and well-ventilated environment.

  • Lay panels flat on a clean, level surface to prevent warping.

  • Avoid stepping on or placing heavy objects on the panels to prevent dents or surface damage.

2. Transportation

  • When moving panels, lift from all four sides simultaneously with care.

  • Do not drag, push, or pull panels—these actions may scratch or damage the surface.

3. Grooving

  • Use a grooving machine or router equipped with a semi-circular head milling cutter (angle greater than 90°).

  • Avoid cutting too deep, as it may damage the aluminum layer.

  • Avoid cutting too shallow, as it may make bending difficult.

  • Leave 0.2–0.3 mm of plastic core with the aluminum to increase bending strength and prevent cracking.

4. Bending

  • Apply even and continuous force when bending to form the desired angle in one motion.

  • Avoid repeated bending, which may cause fractures or cracks in the panel or paint layer.

5. Curved Panel Processing

  • Use specialized bending tools or equipment for curved shapes.

  • Apply force gradually and progressively to achieve a smooth curve.

  • Do not forcefully bend the panel in one go, as this may cause internal stress or breakage.

6. Color Consistency Between Batches

  • Panels from different production batches may have slight color variations.

  • Before installation, compare color shades if panels from multiple batches are being used.

  • Only use panels with matching colors on the same continuous surface.

7. Installation Direction

  • Panels have a designated installation direction (usually indicated by arrows on the protective film).

  • Ensure that all panels installed on the same surface are aligned in the same direction to avoid visual color inconsistencies.

8. Protective Film Removal

  • The protective film should be removed within 45 days after installation.

  • Delayed removal can lead to difficulty peeling the film or adhesive residue on the panel surface.

9. Usage Conditions

  • Panels designed for interior use must not be used outdoors.

  • Improper use in external environments can lead to premature aging, fading, or structural failure.

10. Cleaning

  • If panels become dirty during or after installation:

    • Use clean water and neutral detergent for most dirt.

    • For tougher stains, use alcohol (98% or above).

    • Avoid acetone and harsh chemical solvents, as they can damage the surface finish.

By carefully following these precautions, you can preserve the aesthetic and structural quality of aluminum-plastic panels throughout their service life. Proper handling not only ensures a better visual outcome but also reduces the risk of costly repairs or replacements.
